This unit is designed as an introductory level for chainsaw users. It covers basic operator health and safety issues, routine chainsaw maintenance and inspection, chopping small diameter timber and the safe use of tools to assist in lifting, stacking and handling timber.

It also includes training in felling small trees and leaning trees using a range of techniques, felling overhanging trees using hand tools, removing branches and chopping logs, stacking and handling timber safely.

EPIS
Helmet with class 1 eye and ear protection
EN166 safety glasses
Class 1 tear proof trousers
Class 1 reinforced boots
Chainsaw (recommended length 38 cm)
Individual first aid kit containing scissors, gauze, plaster and saline
A whistle or mobile phone

Certificate of attendance
To achieve the certificate 100% of the course must be completed.
Certificate issued by the Escola EFA Quintanes.

Training price: €410 (10% off for Quintanes alumni).

Examination costs:
ECC1: €155.
ECC2: €220.
